VOLUNTARY COUNSELLING AND TESTING

There is a walk _in counselling and testing and referral services at the centre.people from the community come here for free services.A total of 1221 people have accessed the services this year.

Some of the kids are from Gereza primary school (GK Prison primary)
Moses Were says, “I have gained self esteem since the kids club started because now I can stand in front of other children without fearing, I can now play with them". "I like the kids club tuition and the refreshment that is being served”. “The remedial classes at the site has helped me improve in my performance as a whole because I am a candidate”.

In our financial year three,a total of 123 children are actively involved in the kids clubs activities.The kids club at GK primary school went on well during the month of June 2010.A total of 66 children(34 boys and 32 girls) attended.The club has a plan of planting onions which they planted three months ago.The club was privileged to get a visit by the WalMart team.

CHILDREN SUPPORT

Pupils from the very needy families get school uniforms and also nutritional support as the need..march 2010,children from Gereza,Noonkopir and makadara primary schools received full school uniforms at a mini ceremony that was attended by some steering committe members:among them area village elder,womens group representative and kitengela pastors felllowship representative.
There are support groups for kids at Gereza primary school.These activities have been running in connection with the ECO schools.This includes gardening,tree planting among others.

June 2010,educational items(story books ,geometrical sets,pens,erasers and VCD) were donated by the Walmart team for the children library at the centre.some of these items were given out to twenty children who had performed exceptionally in mathematics

COMPUTER APPLICATION SKILLS

At Kitengela Centre of HOPE,Computer Application skills is one of the services offered.People trained are from the community and employees from the factories we work with .This course takes three months where the students are equipped with the basic computer skills free of charge.During this period,other trainings take place which includes:peer education ,entrepreneurship and communication skills.All the participants get the certificates in their various fields


Industrial Centre of HOPE-Kitengela has a strategic objective which is to improve the vocational and entrepreneurial aptitude of communities around the factories targeting mostly workers families.In this way,the workers from the factories we work with get free Computer Application skills as well as their beneficiaries.in our financial year three,the number of beneficiaries in the computer application skills and Entrepreneurship are 104 and 84 respectively.the goal for the year was 180.

computer Application Skills training at the beginning of May had a total of 82 students.former students have gotten themselves into employment and others have been promoted in their lines of work.
